Unexpected

I unexpectedly came across this beautiful wooden seat in a wild meadow yesterday afternoon. I find it is in memory of environmentalist, musician and adventurer Richard ‘Shad’ Shadwell who died in 2002 at the age of just 35.

Research later revealed this horrific end to his life.

Left me with rather a lot to think about . .

* a terrific photo: the bench doesn't look lonely to me, more idyllic. a sad story, but i can understand him swimming there - probably for the same reason people climb mountains: because it's there. you risk your life every time you step out of the front door, as we come up to the anniversary of 7/7 it should be obvious that there's danger in everything, whether swimming in a lake or catching the tube.[reply]david @ 2006-07-04 13:23:14
