Fig Tree Update

Posted by AG (London, United Kingdom) on 12 July 2006 in Plant & Nature.

These are update shots to the 'Fig Tree' posting of May 4 . Fruits were visible from a very early stage on the old wood and there will be a second crop on the new wood maturing in the fall. According to some sources, figs were one of the first plants to be cultivated and there is evidence found in Jericho of this going back about 11,500 years.

The lovely warm brickwork here has been maturing since 1630.
