Bigfoot

This is one of two moorhen chicks which seem to have been separated or orphaned at an early stage and are having to fend for themselves. They seem quite capable but will be very vulnerable to predators. The crazy feet are delightfully disproportionate though doubtless practical in the moorhen world.

The Moorhen chicks have quite a long incubation period of about 22 days and so hatch as quite capable birds from day one although it can be another 6-7 weeks before they can fly.[reply]AG @ 2006-08-04 10:05:32
