Totonacan, Anyone?

The Mesoamérican languages are seldom heard within this vast space now flooded and overgrown and open to feathered serpents.

Actually, this is under a Victorian raiway bridge constructed in 1869 near Oliver’s Island across the River Thames in London.

I had not appreciated the 'Temple of the Feathered Serpent' feeling of this space until I viewed the images. The ghostly sacrificial offerings fleeing across the steps within are just one jogger caught in the three-shot bracketted set for HDR. What a way to go.

* They don't make bridges like this one any more. Now we slap some steel beams across cement piers and consider it done. No design for the piers and certainly no murals or frescos. This took three trips to get the right image and light once I had seen the initial potential. Then, there was the wait for someone crossing the ‘mural’ until I got a break with the jogger. Looking back, a tighter crop and more of the ‘mural’ would have been better, maybe.[reply]AG @ 2006-09-06 12:20:02
