Richmond : One, The Wardrobe

Posted by AG (London, United Kingdom) on 2 September 2009 in Architecture.

Over the wall.

Important buildings have stood on this spot since at least 1125 and the fabric you see here once formed part of Richmond Palace last re-built around 1500 and used by Royals thru to the early-1600’s. Now a private residence, you can still make out, here, the Tudor arches incorporated from part of the Palace itself.

These homes were formed from that part of Richmond Palace known as ‘The Wardrobe’ in which soft furnishings, costumes and clothes were stored and that name was carried over to the houses.

Location : Richmond, Surrey, England
