Undercroft Underfoot

Posted by AG (London, United Kingdom) on 19 October 2009 in Documentary & Street.

:
The floor to the undercroft of the 17th-century Lincoln’s Inn Chapel is paved with the headstones of those buried there. Something unsettling about walking over so much history.

One soul interred there had suffered the loss of both ears for ‘scurrilous writings’ and, later, been branded “SL” for a seditious libel. I did not linger.
