Royal Arcade, Old Bond Street / Albemarle Street, London

The Royal Arcade was built in 1879 and connects Old Bond Street with Albemarle Street, Mayfair. It was, originally, known as just 'The Arcade' but gained ‘royal’ status a few years after opening. The original name is still set in the elaborate pediment above the entrance.

According to a Directory of 1882, shop occupations, back then, included the following trades :

Stationer
Shoe Maker
Shirtmaker
Hairdressers
Confectioner
Artificial Flowers Seller
Oriental Wares
Glass-stainer and decorator
Umbrella maker
Florist
