St Michael, Cornhill

Posted by AG (London, United Kingdom) on 17 April 2010 in Documentary & Street.

This ornate doorway (c1860) forms the porch to St Michael's Church off Cornhill, London. The church can trace itself back to Norman beginnings but it was one lost in the Great Fire of 1666 and it has been subjected to much insensitive 'restoration' since. A font dating back 1672 has, however, survived.
